478th Aviation Company (HH)

"Up-Tight Hurricanes"

The 478th Avn Company served in Vietnam during the period
September  1965 until October 1972. The assigned aircraft were
CH-54  "flying cranes", and the unit supported the 1st Cav
Division. The following photos originated with CWO Lester
Haverfield, who served with the unit in 1967. The photos show
a mission, where Haverfield, Merlin Handley, and Bill Ruffin, use
their CH-54 to do a "first ever" double pick up. They transport
two Hueys from Chu Lai, to An Kne, with a refuel stop at LZ
English. Well done guys!
